Brewer Dan chalks up the BIG 5 0
This latest beer marks the release of the fiftieth beer that Dan has brewed at North Laine. This is a much-anticipated beer that Dan has been saving for a special occasion. A 5.0% ABV tropical sour IPA, dry hopped with Talus, Centennial, Sabro and Galaxy hops, this beer is a riot of tropical flavours and taste sensations.
Following a successful twenty-year career in the finance and accountancy industry mainly working in and around the NHS, Dan decided to turn his passion for home-brewing into a career. At the time he said, “I now want to do something different, escape the corporate climate and do something that excites me, to contribute to something that delights customers rather than merely satisfying their needs”, if that’s not igniting the moment, we don’t know what is.
Dan left the safety and comfort (and lucrativeness) of the finance sector behind and embarked on honing his skill at a regional brewery in Kent, starting off as a brewery assistant and then being promoted to brewer as his skills, knowledge and qualifications developed.
A few years later, Dan was appointed as a senior brewer at Laine, based at our North Laine Brewhouse in Brighton. During his time at Laine, Dan has produced a range of exciting, innovative, and very drinkable beers, demonstrating time and again that he is the greatest of all time. There are too many great beers to list here but some of his highlights include, Shake Radler and Roll (a 2.8% pineapple Radler), Professor Simcoe (a 6.3% single hopped NEIPA), Beer Mine! (A love hearts inspired sherbet sour).
Going forward Dan has a full brew schedule featuring his usual blend of new and exciting recipes, novel flavour combinations all coupled with the return of some old favourites. Dan can be found in the North Laine Brewhouse most weekdays, so if you’ve enjoyed any of his beers, why not pop in and say hi sometime.
